POLISH APPLES: STRONG DEMAND FOR IDARED VARIETY DESPITE 20% LOWER STOCK COMPARED TO LAST YEAR.

Looking ahead to the next season, there could be a general shortage of apples. With a mild winter and no sustained period of low temperatures, there is a possibility of a shortage of apples in general. Genesis Fresh has secured sufficient volumes to fulfill sales, and the stocks are being kept to minimize the possibility of running out of apples. The weather in May will determine if there will be a shortage of apples this spring.

In comparison to February and previous months, the Polish apple distributor Genesis Fresh recorded a high sales month in March. Jan Nowakowski, the company’s manager, claims that due to reduced interest in this variety, Red Jonaprince stock is the largest in Poland this year, and Idared stock is stable but 20% lower than last year due to great demand. Golden Delicious is the third-largest volume variety, but this season’s demand is quite strong, and its inventories are already 12% lower than they were last year.

Due in part to Poland’s low stock levels as the end of the season draws near, apple prices have been rising significantly over the past few weeks. According to Nowakowski, prices have been continuously rising since April, and after the Easter break, there will be another increase in price levels. Since many nations are out of stock and must meet the demand from supermarkets, demand for Polish apples comes from the entire European Union. It will stay this way until the conclusion of the season, and it is anticipated that it will stop before Poland runs out of apples.

In spite of this, due to challenging growing circumstances and a delayed harvest, Red Jonaprince has fallen short of expectations this year. As a result, fruits shipped in long transit times aren’t doing so well. While the company is still able to choose and distribute good conditioned fruit, the majority of these volumes will remain in European markets. Despite this, Red Jonaprince’s performance this year has fallen short of expectations because of difficult growing conditions and a delayed harvest. Fruits that are sent across vast distances aren’t doing as well as they should. The majority of these quantities will continue to be sold in European markets, despite the fact that the company is still able to choose and supply good-conditioned fruit.
