Comparing the first quarter of 2023 to the same period in 2022, Peruvian exports of garlic saw a small increase in both volume and value. From January to March 2023, the country exported 3.699.948 kilos of the cultivar worth $5.052.415, according to Agrodata Per.
This represents a significant increase over the 3.028.764 kilograms ($4.318.186) of garlic shipped over the same period in 2022. The United States (29%), Ecuador (18%), Australia (4%), Poland (7%), and other nations are next in line as destinations for Peruvian garlic exports, which still account for 42% of the overall value.
The increase in exports is a positive indication for the Peruvian economy, suggesting increased demand for its agricultural products in international markets. To preserve this growing trend and widen its market reach to other prospective markets, the Peruvian government is expected to continue aiding its farmers and exporters.
