Peruvian Fresh Mango

The Peruvian fresh mango has deep, sweet caramel aromas and juicy, soft flesh. It has yellow undertones or spots that cover more of the mango as it ripens.

This variety of mango is famous worldwide for its flavor and quality. Peru’s nature and climate make it possible to grow various crops. Peruvian Mango export is now the primary fruit because of its significance for the country’s lands. Peru sells more than 70,000 tons of mangos to countries throughout the world annually and has over 59,000 acres of mango plantations along its coast. That is equivalent to about 1.4 million pounds!

Mangos are constantly in season in the United States, with Peruvian Kent mangos being available in January and February and five other types being accessible all year long. Originally from Florida in the 1940s, the green-skin Kent mango is now primarily harvest in Mexico, Ecuador, and Peru. They are ideal for juicing and drying due to their sweet, rich flavour and low fibre content.

Look for yellow undertones, spots that have begun to cover the fruit, and a tiny give when you press a ripe Kent mango. Once you have your fresh Kent, try giving Peru’s national meal, ceviche, a mango twist.

Consider how far it travelled from the plantation in South America to your home as you savour your Peruvian mango.

September Mango Harvest

Peru exported 2,447,543 kilos of fresh mangoes between Aug 1 and Oct 2, which is 950% more than the 233,115 kilos it shipped last year. In September 2023, Peru exported 2,418,715 kilos of fresh mango, a significant increase from the 66,372 kilos it exported in the same month the year before.

According to specialists, if the mango had not flowered during this 2023–2024 (October–March) campaign, there would not have been any early fruit. The campaign is off to a much better start than expected. However, since production and exports are to decline significantly, we will wait to see how it plays out,” he said.

Peruvian Fresh Mango Export growth

According to a presentation by David Flores, CEO and Commercial Director of Fluctuante, as published by Agraria, Peru has established itself as the fourth largest exporter of mangoes globally.

According to Flores, the Peruvian mango is a fruit with a very classic flavour that “has positioned itself in numerous markets due to its agreeable taste. We have customised this product because of the many climates in the country’s interior. It is distinctive for the pulp we provide as well. The world’s most flavorful mango is the Peruvian Mango variety.

He claimed that the previous campaign had issues, making it difficult to carry out exports because of logistical and climatic problems. Peru exported 249,314 tons of fresh mangoes from the start of the 2022–23 campaign through the end of week 15 of this year (April 9), representing an increase of 7.3 per cent compared to the 232,275 tons delivered during the same period of the previous campaign.
