Ecuador banana exports have witnessed a notable surge in recent months, as indicated by the latest data shared by the Ecuadorian Banana Marketing and Export Association. From January to March 2023, the country exported an impressive 99.86 million boxes of bananas, marking a significant 4.57% increase compared to the corresponding period in 2022.
Among the various destinations, the European Union stood out as the primary market, accounting for a substantial share of 31.88% of the total production. The European market’s strong demand can be attributed to the exceptional quality and taste of Ecuadorian bananas. Additionally, Russia secured a notable position by importing 23.53% of the fruit, while the Middle East accounted for 12.54% of the total banana exports. The United States emerged as another significant destination, receiving 10.26% of the banana shipments.
