BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA’S FROZEN RASPBERRY EXPORTS FALL SHARPLY, LOSING GROUND IN THE GLOBAL MARKET.

According to researchers, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s frozen raspberry exports have dropped dramatically in the last year. In the past year, the exports of the nation have decreased 45% in terms of quantity and 48% in terms of value. This has caused the nation to drop significantly in the global rankings, and its impact on the raspberry market has also diminished.

In contrast to the 12.6 thousand tonnes exported the year before, Bosnia and Herzegovina exported 6.9 thousand tonnes of frozen raspberries from April 2022 to March 2023. This downward exporting trend started in 2019 and has picked up speed recently. This season, the demand for frozen raspberries in Europe has been severely curtailed, which has added to the situation.

Raspberries from Bosnia were mostly sold to and reexported from Serbia, where they were given value. Serbia received half of all the raspberries exported from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland, and Austria were also significant purchasers. With the exception of Belgium, exports to all of these nations decreased significantly.

Despite Russian aggression on its soil and terrorist attacks on its energy infrastructure, Ukraine has kept up its surge in frozen raspberry exports. Ukraine is anticipated to raise exports by at least 20–25% in the 2022–2023 season. Ukraine exported 42.5 thousand tonnes of frozen raspberries in the last year, a rise of 9,000 tonnes from the year before. The exports of Ukraine are currently around six times more than those of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Because of this, Ukraine is rapidly driving Bosnia and Herzegovina out of the raspberry market worldwide. Bosnia and Herzegovina is also affected by Morocco’s growing market share, which recently overtook the US in the ranking of the world’s raspberry exporters.
